If there is something in Russia, it is stories loaded with much mystery, its great territorial extension, the diversity of cultures, a large number of languages and dialects within the same territory and its geographical position are, possibly, the reasons that make it such an interesting country.
This time we will focus on Lake Goluboe (Abkhazia, Kabardino Balkaria) better known as the Blue Lake, for its extraordinary blue color that does not lose it in any of the seasons.
The explanation that it is blue is not fully proven, some say it is due to the presence of lazurite at the bottom of the lake (which has not been proven by its great depth); others say that it is due to the presence of the hydrogen sulfide that characterizes it. However, what is certain is that the source of the lake's water is the greatest mystery that characterizes it.

The lake water source does not come from any surface river and actually from any known source; for the water that can be seen is the end of an unknown underground source. The waters come from a cave system from which underground water emerges, similar to those found in the Yucatan region of Central America, Vaucluse in France or those that can be found in Indonesia. Although it is a spectacular attraction for divers, its other drawback is the depth.
It is believed that the blue lake has a depth around the 250 meters; thus being the deepest lake in the world, but this has not been proven. The largest expedition carried out in the area, was carried out in the 2011 led by the Russian Andréi Rodiónov, who unfortunately died in the expedition due to failure in his oxygen equipment.
However, some expert explorers consider that this is not the real depth, but could be even deeper considering that the cave system can direct towards an unknown area of greater depth.
The temperature is another of the mysteries of this lake, which is preserved at 9 ° C throughout the year; It never freezes. Another of the mysteries is the little fauna or flora that it houses, it lacks vertebrates, although there are photographs taken by divers to bright algae.
The truth is that those who have gone to the Blue Lake, affirm that it is also a very peaceful environment where those who visit it can feel the warmth of the water, the silence of the mountains and the peace of life that anyone who sees it can breathe. just for once in your life.
